Our Learn to Play Ice Hockey programme for girls aged 10–15, launched in April 2025 at the National Ice Centre, gave young players the perfect introduction to the sport in a fun, supportive, and beginner‑friendly environment. Delivered in partnership with Bauer Hockey, the National Ice Centre, and the Nottingham Vipers, the scheme opened the door for newcomers to step onto the ice with confidence — no experience and no equipment required.
Running every Sunday from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, the sessions offered regular ice time where participants could build skills, improve their skating, and learn the fundamentals of the game. With subsidised pricing for the first four weeks, the programme remained accessible for families trying hockey for the first time.
Coaches provided patient, encouraging instruction, guiding players through skating basics, stickhandling, and simple gameplay. Thanks to Bauer’s equipment loan support, every participant had access to high‑quality gear, making it easy to get started without the cost of buying a full kit.
The atmosphere throughout the programme was welcoming and energetic, helping players make new friends, grow their confidence, and discover the excitement of ice hockey. For many, it became the first step in their hockey journey — and a memorable introduction to a fast, fun, and empowering sport.
