🌟 Girls Learn to Play Ice Hockey is Coming to Nottingham! 🏒

Exciting news for aspiring young hockey players in Nottingham — a brand-new Girls Learn to Play Ice Hockey programme is launching this July 2026! This programme is designed specifically for girls aged 9–14, providing a fun, supportive introduction to the sport and a clear pathway into the Nottingham Vipers setup.

🏒 A Great Opportunity to Get on the Ice

Whether you’ve always wanted to try ice hockey or are completely new to the sport, this is the perfect place to start. No prior experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved!

The sessions are focused on building confidence, fundamental skills, and friendships, while helping players take their first steps into the game in a welcoming environment.

This programme is delivered in partnership with Nottingham Vipers, and supported by leading organisations in the sport, including:

  • National Ice Centre
  • First Shift Ice Hockey Academy

Together, they are committed to growing the women’s and girls’ game and creating clear development pathways for young players.

  • Duration: 6 weeks

  • Who Can Join: Girls aged 9–14
  • Experience: None required
  • Equipment: Provided (except skates, which can be brought or hired at the rink)

🧳 Equipment Information

  • Kit Issue: Sunday 19th July (first session)
  • Kit Return: Sunday 23rd August (final session)

All essential equipment will be supplied with the exception of pelvic protection (which can be purchased from Willies/ Willies.co.uk or not used) and Skates which can be your own, hired from NIC or purchased from Willies/ Willies.co.uk, ensuring players can focus on learning and enjoying the experience.

09:30 – Kitting out (Changing room 8)
10:30 – Team building activity
11:20 – Session plan
11:25 – Walk to ice
11:30 – Practice
