  • DO I NEED PROTECTIVE CLOTHING FOR ICE SKATING?

    It’s not mandatory, but wearing protective clothing for ice skating is sensible to keep yourself safe from bruises, cuts and dislocations while on the ice.

     

    If you’re a beginner skater, falls will happen — it’s a good idea to stay protected so you can learn how to fall safely! Even as you progress with your ice skating skills, protective clothing can help boost your confidence, so you can keep getting up to practice an element again, injury-free.

  • WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ICE SKATING PROTECTIVE CLOTHING?

    If you want to invest in protective clothing, it’s a good idea to start with protecting your most important asset: your head. By using a specially-designed headband, you can keep your head safe from falls and collisions with the ice while staying cool and ventilated!

     

    You can also get ice skating crash pads, which help protect your coccyx and hips. Knee pads and gloves are also great options for protecting your most vulnerable joints from falls on the ice.

  • CAN I USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING FOR FIGURE SKATING COMPETITIONS?

    As figure skating competitors are judged on their appearance during competition, most tend not to wear protective clothing.

     

    Your competition is also slightly different from practice; during training, it’s normal to fall often as you learn new elements and develop your skills. In your competition, you shouldn’t be falling that much as *hopefully*, you’ve practised enough!

  • WHAT SIZE OF ICE SKATING PROTECTIVE CLOTHING SHOULD I GET?

    The sizing of protective clothing for ice skating is loosely based on your clothing sizes — so if you wear a medium, you’ll likely be a medium in your protective gear.
